Today's large print puzzle
Easy large print sudoku, one to a page
The classic 9 by 9 sudoku with the grid filling the whole sheet and bold digits. Two levels, both easy: every puzzle can be finished one certain digit at a time.

The rules
- Fill every empty cell with a digit from 1 to 9.
- Each row must contain the digits 1 to 9 once each, and so must each column.
- Each of the nine boxes, three cells by three and marked by thicker lines, must also contain 1 to 9 once each.
- The shaded digits are given and cannot be changed. Every puzzle has exactly one solution.
How to solve an easy sudoku without guessing
Both levels on this page are built so that one plain method is always enough: find a place where only one digit can go, or a digit that has only one place to go. You never need to try a number and see what happens, and you do not need to pencil small notes in the corners.
Start with the digit that appears most often among the given ones. Say there are six 7s already. Look at the three boxes across the top. If two of them have a 7, those two 7s sit in two different rows, so in the third box the 7 must be in the remaining row. Now look down the columns of that box: a 7 further down a column rules that column out. Often one cell is left, and you can write the 7 in ink.
Go through the digits 1 to 9 this way, then go through them again, because every digit you place opens new certainties. When the scanning slows down, look for a row, column or box with only one or two gaps. One gap is simply the missing digit. With two gaps, name the two missing digits and check each gap against its column: usually one of the digits is already there.
On the Gentle level more than half of the cells are filled at the start, so this scanning goes quickly. The Easy level gives fewer digits and asks for a little more patience, but uses exactly the same method.
Tips for printing and playing
- Each puzzle prints on its own sheet with a wide grid and thick box lines, so there is room to write a digit clearly in every cell.
- Use a pencil with a rubber on paper. On screen, Check marks wrong cells without showing the right answer.
- Tap a cell and then a digit under the grid. On a keyboard, the arrow keys move, the digit keys fill and Backspace clears.
- If one cell has you stuck, Reveal one fills in a single cell so that you can carry on with the rest yourself.
- If nine digits feel like too much today, the 6 by 6 and 4 by 4 pages use the same rules on a smaller grid with larger digits.
How these puzzles are made and checked
A second solver, written separately from the generator, starts from the given digits only. The puzzle is kept only if that solver finds exactly one solution and it is the stored one. The same checker confirms what the level promises about singles.
| Level | Puzzles | What the bank contains |
|---|---|---|
| Gentle | 366 | 42 of 81 cells given; singles alone finish every one |
| Easy | 366 | 35 of 81 cells given; singles alone finish every one |
The puzzle of the day is chosen by the date on your device: puzzle 1 was the puzzle for 1 January 2026, and the number goes up by one each day. Gentle: 366 puzzles, so the same puzzle comes round again after 366 days. Easy: 366 puzzles, so the same puzzle comes round again after 366 days. Every number stays open in the archive control above the grid. More detail is on the page how the puzzles are made, checked and printed.
Questions
How large are the digits?
The grid is nine cells across and is widened to fill the sheet in large print, with bold digits. That is one puzzle per page, not four or six. For still larger digits use the 6 by 6 or the 4 by 4 grid.
What is the difference between Gentle and Easy?
The number of digits given at the start. The table on this page shows how many each level gives, counted from the puzzles themselves. Both levels are finished by the same simple method.
How do you know each puzzle has only one solution?
Every puzzle is solved again by a separate checking program that starts from the given digits only and looks for a second answer. A puzzle is kept only if there is exactly one solution and the simple method reaches it.
Are there harder puzzles?
Not on this site. We chose to offer easy puzzles in a readable size and to do that properly. Hard sudoku usually needs small pencilled notes in each cell, which does not go well with large print.
How many puzzles are there?
This page holds 732 puzzles over 2 levels. One per level is the puzzle of the day, and all can be opened and printed by number.
